Sahara Reporters reported in the early hours of Saturday that the police had arrested a teenager paid N5000 to deliver live ammunition to the hometown of PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The report shows that he “was apprehended by the police while on his way to deliver the ammunition to a man in Jada town, in the Jada Local Government Area ahead of the commencement of the presidential and National Assembly elections.”
It claimed that “the teenager who resides in Jada, has since confessed to the crime. He identified one Musa as the man who sent him to deliver the weapons. He was also equipped with a charm that is said to be able to make him vanish in case he meets with the police or other security agencies on his way.”
“The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said, the suspects will be investigated and charged to court for prosecution,” it concluded.
Verification
Our findings show that this is not true. We ran a search on Google and it returned showing that Sahara Reporters is the only platform that reported the news. A further check also revealed that the last time the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, made a statement was more than 10 hours ago while admonishing the people of Adamawa to go out and vote without fear of attack.
