Festus Keyamo, the official spokesperson for APC Presidential Campaign Council shared a series of images from today’s APC presidential rally at Sokoto via his verified Twitter handle, @fkeyamo.

Ahead of the presidential election slated for 25th of February, the APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu took his campaign to Sokoto state today. He was accompanied by President Muhammadu Buhari and other bigwigs in the ruling party to visit the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III.

The images were accompanied with the caption “More pictures from the mother of all rallies in Sokoto! The signs are all there for all to see! But they are playing! Make dem dey play!! In about a forth-night, the jungle will mature!!”

But FactCheckElections found the first of the four images shared by Keyamo to be questionable. The aerial image showed a setting of overcrowded people.

The tweet has garnered 302 retweets, 289 quote tweets and over 1k likes.

The image was also shared by Gboyega Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor Babajide SanwoOlu via his verified Twitter handle, @gboyegaakosile.

It was captioned “Massive turnout of party faithful and supporters of @officialABAT in Sokoto and @OfficialAPCNg. Are you still in doubt? Please join the train now before it leaves the station. Note: Sokoto is a @OfficialPDPNig controlled state”

Verification
FactcheckElections subjected the image to reverse image search using Tineye, a digital tool used to search the source of an image and visually similar images from the internet.

We discovered that the aerial image was taken by Colin Hinkle, @hinklecolin an aerial photographer on July 31, 2021 at a 4-Day music festival in Chicago, United States known as Lollapalooza.

According to an interview with the photographer Colin Hinkle, published by Business Insider Africa and Yahoo on August 3, 2021, the image shows a tightly packed sea of concertgoers, with very few attendees wearing masks.

Hinkle in the interview said his primary job is an aerial photographer, someone who uses drones or helicopters to gather video or photos from above.

When asked about his relationship to the Lollapalooza festival, he said: “That’s actually shot off the balcony of where I live. I live in a 52nd floor of a building that faces Grant Park, and directly over top of Lollapalooza. Every year I usually am around that weekend, and I get a camera with a long zoom lens on it, and I take photos and share them.

“What I wanted to try to capture this year was while they have all their restrictions in place for this event, I knew that a large group of people in one space was kind of contradicting all of the rules and regulations that were being told I wanted to try to show how many people were in one space at one time there, so I was trying to get a shot as many as I could showing the massive crowds all compacted together in very tight spaces.” He further added.

Conclusion
FactcheckElections can conclude the first of the four images shared by Keyamo is not from today’s APC Rally in Sokoto but from 2021 Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, United States.
