A Twitter user, @kuwait_magix claimed that a recent video showing the President-elect, Bola Tinubu dining with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Femi Gabjabiamila, and other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not recent.

According to him, the video was uploaded 3 months ago.

Recall that there were speculations about Tinubu’s whereabouts as well as his health status but his media aide confirmed last month that he traveled to Paris, France and the United Kingdom to rest and plan the transition programme ahead of his inauguration on 29 May.

The tweet was also accompanied by a screenshot of instablog9ja’s post on the same claim and another YouTube post of TVC News with the headline ‘Tinubu has been friendly to igbos in lagos – Gbajabiamila’ and a shorts of the viral video. The time stamp indicated that it was uploaded 3 months ago.

It has garnered over 5k retweets, over 8k likes and 197 comments as at press time.

Verification

In a bid to verify this claim, we did a Google search and found out that other credible media platforms such as The Cable, PM News and TVC News posted it.

According to TVC News, the President-Elect broke his fast (iftar) on Saturday, April 1st with family and friends in Paris, France.

It further added that Tinubu was spotted walking in the streets of Paris with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gabjabiamila.

We further searched the news attributed to Gbajabiamila on Google. We found out that the news was published by other conventional and credible media platforms here, here and here

Upon searching further we also discovered that the video was uploaded by TVC News on December 27, 2022 (4 months ago) meaning that it was a false context as it does not relate to Tinubu’s vacation in France in any way.

Conclusion

Going by our findings, it can be concluded that Tinubu’s iftar video is recent and the Gbajabiamila story was used in false context to portray that iftar video was old.
