#2023Decides: No! There is No Rigging of Results on INEC Server

Tijani Abdulkabeer

Claim

Rinu Oduala, an activist and supporter of the candidacy of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi tweeted that there is massive rigging on INEC server.

RIGGING ALERT: Unauthorized people are currently logged into INEC server, uploading results different from what was voted at polling booths across the country today,” she alleged.

Verdict

False. There was no rigging on the INEC result portal as claimed by Rinu Oduala.

Verification

Our findings show that the claim is not true. While the correct INEC result portal was shared in one of the pictures distributed by this activist, we understand that it was to mislead the public. The video verification run revealed that the alleged manipulation was not carried out on the INEC result portal; instead we found that it was a phishing website URL – bc7r.ondigitalocean.app

Meanwhile, we also traced the gmail address that appeared in one of the videos shared but the user is yet to respond to our query.

As at press time, the tweet already garnered 871K views, 12.1K retweets and 10.3K likes

Conclusion

False. There was no rigging on the INEC result portal as claimed by Rinu Oduala.
