CLAIM: A viral video has been circulating on the internet claiming that the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has withdrawn from the election and declared his support for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate.

Verdict: This claim is false. There is no evidence to support the assertion that Peter Obi has withdrawn from the presidential race and endorsed the PDP candidate.

Verification:

We analyzed the video using Deepware, an AI video scanner and found that it was a doctored clip from 2019. The video was created by taking clips of Peter Obi’s past speeches and rearranging to create the false impression that he has withdrawn from the race.

We checked Peter Obi’s official page as well as some members of his campaign team but found no evidence backing the claim. We also reached out to independent sources, including electoral officials and political analysts currently on the field who confirmed that there is no truth to the claim as well.
